About H2O

A team of veteran guides and dedicated river enthusiasts created H2O Patagonia with a single purpose in mind: to provide guests with luxurious vacations in an atmosphere of high adventure. The group chose the Futaleufu region, in Patagonia, Chile, as its main base because every single one of them fell in love with the area’s culture, beauty, and ability to elevate the spirit. The region has transformed their lives; they believe it will transform the lives of their guests too.

Open seasonally, December through March, H2O Patagonia embraces the philosophy that adventurous travelers need not endure the typical hardships of an adventurous lifestyle, such as uncomfortable sleeping pads, leaky tents and dehydrated food. Instead, H2O Patagonia believes in playing hard during the day, then retreating to luxury and comfort at night. After all, shouldn't a full-body massage be a part of every adventure travel experience?

In addition to its operation in Chile, H2O Patagonia maintains offshore bases in California and Switzerland. With these international resources, this outstanding company provides superior service, helping guests create exciting vacations that rejuvenate the soul.

Whitewater Rafting the Rio Futaleufu

Futaleufu, (pronounced FOO-ta-lay-oo-FOO) the world’s premiere whitewater river, winds through the lush Chilean rain forest. Corralled by sleek granite cliffs whlie careening through lush, green river valleys, the Futaleufu boasts one Class IV-V rapid after the other. Adventure lovers looking for exciting whitewater are looking for Futaleufu.

H2O Patagonia’s Futaleufu adventure begins from the moment a guest arrives in Puerto Montt—on a chartered flight to save precious time—to the moment the guest returns to the airport. And with H2O Patagonia’s all-inclusive approach, everything is included, from food and wine to massages and equipment to a souvenir T-shirt, hat and dry bag.

This eight-day Futaleufu experience includes ample preparation and orientation and entire days of whitewater rafting, as well as plenty of time for other exciting activities, including kayaking, hiking, canyoning, fishing, and horseback riding. Tucked in between the adventure are incomparable moments spent relaxing, snacking on appetizers, and reveling in the indescribable surroundings of Futaleufu.

Multi-sport & More

Multi-sport packages pack a punch of different thrills. Besides the rush of rafting on the Futaleufu River, participants choose from a variety of options. There’s hiking in Chilean rainforest, horseback riding on old pioneer trails and canyoning in the spectacular Gleves and Pelenque Canyons. Canyoning includes rappelling down waterfalls, exploring tiny caverns and leaping into turquoise pools. Other activities include paddling an inflatable kayak on a quieter tributary and climbing in the Andes Mountains. Itineraries are flexible.

Two other programs are also offered. Adventures in Wine combines multi-sport activities with gourmet dining and wine education. The Yoga multi-sport vacation includes yoga sessions each morning and evening – before and after the excitement of each day.

In addition, family-oriented and women-only trips have also been added to the mix.

Lavish Lodging & Amenities

The H2O Patagonia difference is apparent from the beginning. The company’s chartered flight delivers guests directly to Antucamay, our adventure resort. This means that time-conscious travelers don’t have to waste an entire day of travel on the bus or ferry getting across the fjords.

At Antucamay, H2O Patagonia’s 175-acre riverside ranch, guests live in concert with the calming rhythms of the Futaleufu Valley. At night they sleep in a bungalow nestled in the lush terraces overlooking the Futaleufu River. Each bungalow is fashioned after traditional African safari lodges with canvas and wood walls fixed to a solid foundation. Each offers its own terrace complete with armchairs where guests sit and enjoy the incredible vistas. In the bedroom, they’ll find plush mattresses with down comforters, feather pillows and supple sheets. In the morning, they slip into a soft organic cotton robes.

And the ultimate adventure pampering doesn’t end there. The Quincho, or dining area, offers dramatic views of the river and the surrounding valley. Here guests dine on exquisite meals prepared by an imported gourmet chef. Because Antucamay is also an organic farm, H2O Patagonia’s chef produces the finest creations using organic produce—free-range chicken, lamb and beef.

After an exciting day of adventure, head to the riverside spa to relax. Sit in a wooden hot tub while listening to the hum of the river only a few feet away. Indulge in a soothing massage from one of the on-staff massage therapists. Recline beside the fireplace or enjoy a drink in the unique bar and lounge. All spa services and amenities are included.
