Iceland ProCruises to Debut Unique Cruising Experience through England and Ireland in May

Cruise Line Puts the Magic and Wonder into a Tour of Historic Castles and Sprawling Landscapes

REYKJAVIK, Iceland— Offering discerning travelers unique experiences both on and off the ship, Iceland ProCruises sets sail in May 2015 as the first Icelandic owned expedition cruise line. On a route that transports guests through the British Isles, the Castles and Gardens of Great Britain and Ireland cruise will deliver passengers to some of the world’s most famous gardens and historic castles in the region, complete with a variety of excursions from which to choose along the way.

On May 14th, the Ocean Diamond will depart from Hamburg and sail to Honfleur – one of the most beautiful, medieval areas of France – before crossing the English Channel and reaching Falmouth, the seaport home to Land’s End – England’s westernmost point. Comprised of five islands and additional small rocky islets, the Isles of Scilly will soon welcome guests with golden sandy beaches and an oasis of peace and tranquility – a destination so breathtaking that it’s been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Sailing on to Waterford, Ireland’s oldest city, passengers will have the opportunity to tour the factory home to the famous Waterford Crystal or explore Kilkenny, the country’s medieval capital. Portaferry, the trip’s next stop, offers a look into the deep-rooted history of Northern Ireland as passengers may choose excursions such as a visit to a UNESCO World Heritage Site or to Belfast and the National Trust properties of Mount Stewart House and Gardens. Continuing its route, the Ocean Diamond will sail to the tiny Isle of Iona – rich in history and dubbed the Cradle of Scottish Christianity – and the Isle of Skye – abundant in wild nature and boasting breathtaking rocky mountain ranges and sandy beaches.

As the trip nears an end, travelers will visit Loche Ewe, located in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland. While visiting the Urquhart Castle on the shore of Loch Ness, visitors might even catch a glimpse of the Loch Ness Monster! The trip’s last stop, Oban, offers hiking, mountain biking, golf, deep sea fishing or a leisurely boat trip to spot lighthouses for one last adventure before departing the Ocean Diamond.

This cruise departs from Hamburg on May 14, 2015, and ends in Oban on May 24; prices start at $1,443 per person. Click here for the detailed itinerary and excursion offers.
