Celebrate Hunting Season in the Nationally Recognized Adventure Town
SHERIDAN, Wyo.— Sheridan, Wyoming, a town renowned for world-class outdoor adventure and authentic western culture, is pleased to announce their most recent accolade as a ‘Top Mountain Town’ as named by North American Hunter Magazine.
The nationally acclaimed magazine has added Sheridan to the list of Top Ten Mountain Towns in their Fall 2014 issue, awarding Sheridan the recognition it deserves as an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise. Sheridan was chosen in particular for its quality fishing, hunting and backpacking, all of which can be found in Sheridan’s own Bighorn Mountains.
In years past, Sheridan has become known as the Green Gem of Northern Wyoming, with its history in rodeos, cowboys, Buffalo Bill and the Western frontier. Today, Sheridan is a national adventure destination and joins the ranks of various mountain towns known for active outdoor activities and pursuits.
Of Sheridan, the article reads, “…hunters and anglers find inspiration in Sheridan, where Wyoming’s rugged plains run headlong into the face of the Bighorn Mountains. The small city sits in what town boosters like to call (without a wink) the state’s banana belt, and after driving along dry and dusty I-25, Sheridan does shimmer like an oasis of green and blue in all that brown…Flat water fishermen will find trout to 10 pounds in Lake DeSmet and Healey Reservoir. In September and October, hunters have an even harder choice to make— head up into the mountains for elk or venture on the prairie for pronghorn, muley and yes, even White-Tailed Deer.”
As Sheridan continues to gain recognition as a must-see adventure town, visitors will feel right at home with the laid-back lifestyle and friendly culture so clearly evident within the town. A perfect destination for friends and family alike, Sheridan remains true to its authentic small town roots and is excited to be honored as a ‘Top Mountain Town.’
