CHICAGO, December 17, 2009 — iExplore (www.iExplore.com) announced today the list of Top Ten World Travel Destinations as determined by the vacation purchases of its adventure, luxury and experiential travelers.

2009 Rank

1. Antarctica (#4)

2. Egypt (#1)

3. Peru (#3)

4. Jordan (not ranked)

5. South Africa (#9)

6. Costa Rica (#5)

7. Thailand (#2)

8. China (#8)

9. Australia (not ranked)

10. India (#6)

*2008 rank in parenthesis

After four years of holding the number one position, Egypt took a backseat to the ‘coolest’ destination in the world, Antarctica. While some of the other destinations shuffled around in the top ten, Jordan and Australia worked their way onto the list after not making the cut in 2008.

“Antarctica has emerged as the number one selling destination this year. Many of our clients tell us that they feel a sense of urgency to travel there, due to the threat of global warming.  As always, the World Wonders – Pyramids in Egypt, Machu Picchu in Peru – are very popular,” said iExplore Chief Marketing Officer, Amanda Sundt. “Jordan made the top five this year establishing that our clients are enthralled by Petra and the desert.”

Bumped from last year’s top ten were Vietnam and Japan.
