Buffalo Wyoming to Host Indian Relay Race Opening Event June 11, 12

Buffalo, WYO: The Professional Indian Horse Racing Association (PIHRA) is proud to announce the season’s kickoff event will be at Buffalo Days in Buffalo, Wyoming. The season will culminate with the All Nations Indian Relay Race Championships in Billings, MT September 22-25.

Indian Relay Races offer colorful and exciting action for people of all ages. PIHRA will sanction more than 15 events around the US and Canada with up to 60 teams competing for points which will allow them to participate in the Championships in September. Teams dress in full regalia, paint their horses with team colors and give spectators a great show. As many as 20 adult Indian relay teams are expected to compete at the Buffalo Days Indian Relay; in addition, there will be kids relay races, junior relay races, Warriors races and Ladies races. The event will last 2 ½ hours each day and will begin Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and again on Sunday at 1 p.m. Over $50,000 will be awarded in cash, prizes, and expense reimbursement making Buffalo one of the most significant races of the season.

Presenting sponsors for the Indian Relay Races include the Buffalo, Wyoming Chamber of Commerce and the Johnson Country Fair Board.
