ExperiencePlus! Announces three new Expedition-style Tours for 2016

ExperiencePlus! Announces three new Expedition-style Tours for 2016

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Award-winning bicycle tour operator ExperiencePlus! Have announced new tours for Expeditions Plus in 2016 and beyond. ExpeditionPlus! Tours is Bicycle exploration on a continental scale.

Unlike a “normal” ExperiencePlus! tour, Expeditions are all about covering expansive territory.  They’re about the challenge of pedaling across continents.  They include the best of a regular ExperiencePlus! tour with the added satisfaction of cycling long distances, far from the beaten track.  2016 brings more options than ever to take your riding and travel experience to a new level!

What’s new?

Coast-to-Coast across Chile and Argentina

The first ExpeditionPlus! tour departure of 2016 is a doozy! Join them, January 11 – 27, for a classic Coast to Coast ride across South America. This challenging 700-mile ride over the Andes from Chile’s Pacific Coast to the Atlantic Ocean on the east coast of Argentina. An opportunity to encounter cultures and landscapes of every description.

Scandinavia – July, 2016

A core group of veteran “Expeditioners” have requested an epic ride north! Virtuoso Rick Lankford, popular tour leader, is hard at work on a July 2016 Expedition through Scandinavia. Initial itinerary drafts point to a ride that will be 20-26 days.  Every effort is directed towards including captivating cities like Bergen and Oslo, Norway and Copenhagen, Denmark

Cycling Venice to the heart of Ancient Greece

Wind your way down the eastern Adriatic coast from splendid Venice to the heart of ancient Greece September 2016.  Explore ancient capitals of old republics and states on this 29-day cycling tour that rolls through northern Italy, Istria and the Dalmatian Coast in Croatia, the mountains and lakes of Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania and central Greece. Along the way famous historic towns and sites will tempt further exploration.

There will also be time to relax in coastal villages in north-eastern Italy and seaports in Montenegro… A fascinating journey through history –discover a rugged part of Eastern Europe flanking one of the most important and densely populated seas in the world—the Adriatic.

Saint Petersburg Russia to Istanbul, Turkey

Spin through the three Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania on a route traversing the entire length of eastern Poland and Slovakia from north to south. Dip into Hungary for two days before pedaling through central Romania and Bulgaria to then enter the north west wing of Turkey and arrive into the majestic capital of the Ottoman Empire—Istanbul. This is an amazing trek across Eastern Europe, following parts of ancient trade routes like the Amber and Silk Routes.

This tour, like all Expeditions, is geared toward adventurous cyclists more than casual sightseers, however there is less climbing than on other Expeditions which makes it accessible to less experienced cyclists. Because we’ve run this Expedition more than any other we are also more knowledgeable about this particular route. Curiosity and a certain amount of flexibility and adventure-seeking are still imperative for all participants but this is a great intro for any aspiring expeditioner.

Coming in late 2016 or early 2017 – South Africa

Under development is a 26-28 day tour in South Africa which will partially follow the Garden Route. The plan is to start pedaling in Durban and end in Cape Town. Look for this news about this exciting new tour to be offered between November 2016 and January 2017.

ExperiencePlus! is posting new 2016 departure dates and details daily. If travelers are interested in specific trips, let the company know and they will send notification once those trip details are available. Expedition trips sell out quickly so make your reservations soon!
