FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Award-winning bicycle tour operator ExperiencePlus! has announced new itineraries to their 2016 ExpeditionPlus! tour category. Unlike a “normal” ExperiencePlus! tour, Expedition tours are about bicycle exploration on a continental scale. In 2016, ExperiencePlus! will have more options than ever to take riding and adventure travel experiences to a new level!
Expeditions are designed to appeal to cyclists of any age who want to be among “the first, the few, the special”. All cyclists need is experience, endurance and the heart of an explorer! Go to www.experienceplus.com/tours/expeditionplus to learn more about the ExpeditionPlus! Difference.
ExpeditionPlus! Tours for 2016:
Bike Across Scandinavia: July 3 – 28, 2016
A core group of veteran “Expeditioners” have requested an epic ride north! Expeditions and ExperiencePlus! tour leader, Rick Lankford, is hard at work planning this 27-day tour which starts in Stockholm and takes cyclists along rural farm roads past stunning vistas of fjords, tucked away rural towns, and the vibrant cities of Uppsala, Gothenburg, Aarhus, Copenhagen, and Bergen.
Cycling Venice to the Heart of Ancient Greece: Sept 6 – Oct 5, 2016
Wind down the eastern Adriatic coast from splendid Venice to the heart of ancient Greece. Explore ancient capitals of old republics and states on this 29-day cycling tour that rolls through Northern Italy, Istria and the Dalmatian Coast in Croatia, and through the mountains and lakes of Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania and Central Greece. Take a fascinating journey through history while discovering a rugged part of Eastern Europe flanking one of the most important and densely populated seas in the world – the Adriatic. Along the way, famous historic towns and sites will tempt further exploration. There will also be time to relax in coastal villages in Northeastern Italy and seaports in Montenegro.
Tallinn, Estonia to Istanbul, Turkey: Aug 5 – Sep 15, 2015
Spin through the three Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania on a route traversing the entire length of Eastern Poland and Slovakia from north to south. Dip into Hungary for two days before pedaling through Central Romania and Bulgaria, then enter the northwest wing of Turkey and ride into the majestic capital of the Ottoman Empire – Istanbul. This is an amazing trek across Eastern Europe, following parts of ancient trade routes like the Amber and Silk Routes. Like all Expeditions, this tour is geared toward adventurous cyclists more than casual sightseers. There will be less climbing than on other Expeditions, which makes it accessible to less experienced cyclists. Curiosity and a certain amount of flexibility and adventure seeking are still imperative for all participants, but this is a great introduction for any aspiring expeditioner.
South Africa: Coming in early 2017
ExperiencePlus! is currently developing a 26-28 day tour through South Africa which will include sections of the Garden Route. Starting in Port Elizabeth and traversing the southern tip of Africa and ending in Cape Town, this tour will take cyclists through some of the most interesting regions of South Africa.
