Myths and Mountains Travelers Support Earthquake Recovery
Incline Village, NV — Award-winning experiential tour operator Myths and Mountains, known for its culturally immersive itineraries, is part of an industry-supported recovery fund supporting the tourism industry of Nepal. Tourism Cares, the non-profit philanthropic community of the travel and tourism industry, is spearheading this campaign.
April 25 marks the first anniversary of the Gorkha Earthquake which devastated Nepal and its people. The recovery is in full swing and now offers travelers the one-time opportunity for learning, appreciation, engagement and giving back by booking a trip to Nepal. “Now, and for the rest of 2016, is one of the best and most meaningful times ever for travelers to visit Nepal,” said Mike Rea, CEO of Tourism Cares, “You can experience things today in Nepal that you won’t be able to even a year or two from now.” These include more elbow room on trails and at cultural centers; tour availability in peak spring and fall seasons and the opportunity to provide financial assistance to those affected by last year’s earthquake.
Along with a select group of tour operators, Myths and Mountains was chosen to be featured on a new “Meaningful Travel Map” created by Tourism Cares to guide travelers to the desirable destinations in this mountain kingdom in a philanthropic way. Myths and Mountain’s support of Nepal is through READ Global Nepal is through READ Global Community Library Resource Centers (www.readglobal.org). With each booking, Myths and Mountains donates a portion of the revenue to READ. Moreover, Tourism Cares, through its foundation, has made a generous grant to READ to help rebuild the library in the village of Tukche on the back end of the Annapurna Trail.
