Visit Rainier Launches People of Rainier Video Campaign/Receives $10,000 Port of Seattle Tourism Development Grant
Mt. Rainier, WA- Visit Rainier announced today it has launched its People of Rainier video campaign, and that it was awarded a tourism development grant from the Port of Seattle to assist with the marketing of these videos in the San Francisco Bay area.
“People of Rainier is a collection of personal stories and videos highlighting some of the unique people whose life choices have been heavily influenced by their relationship to the mountain,” said Mary Kay Nelson, executive director of Visit Rainier. “While most of us in the Northwest feel a strong connection with the mountain, the personalities featured in our videos draw daily inspiration from Mt Rainier, and apply it directly to their chosen lifestyle.”
The People of Rainier campaign was developed to celebrate the centennial of the National Park Service, using storytelling as a way of providing an intimate look at the people who live near, or draw inspiration from, Mt. Rainier National Park.
Visit Rainier applied for, and was awarded, a $10,000 tourism marketing grant from the Port of Seattle to help promote its People of Rainier campaign in the San Francisco Bay area. Nelson says the goal is to invite visitors to fly or cruise into the Port of Seattle and continue their adventure to Mt. Rainier.
“According to our research, many of our website visitors outside the greater Puget Sound area are from the San Francisco Bay region,” said Nelson. “Visit Rainier partnered with Travel Tacoma +Pierce County to engage top travel writers in the San Francisco Bay area in April. The Port of Seattle tourism promotion grant will allow us to further support that mission by placing targeted ads in the vicinity as well.”
Visit Rainier will debut 20 People of Rainier stories and videos throughout 2016. Its first video featuring Kim Kircher, a member of Crystal Mountain’s ski patrol, was released earlier this week. Link to the video is here.
